P90X – Days 69 & 70

Posted by tscfitness on May 31, 2009

Day 69 (Saturday) Kenpo X…..Yet another sweaty round with Mr. Horton and Company.  What he says at the beginning of the DVD is so true, you’re having so much fun, that the hour is over before you realize it.

I went on a night-time bicycle ride.  It was an adventure-filled ride, dealing with some light showers, wind (of course) and the Vegas Crazies (drivers).  I only had a couple close calls.  :)   My average speed was around 16 MPH.  I was really pushin’ hard.  I wanted to keep my heart rate up there during the entire ride.  The Ipod was crankin’ out the tunes and away I went.

Day 70 (Sunday) X Stretch…..No rest day for me, just keep on doin’ what you do!  Early-morning XS, what a great way to start your day!  On to week 11.

Went on a glorious 6:00 AM bicycle ride.  12 miles in 45 minutes=16 MPH, again.  I blew by this poor dude on his mountain bike.  I think I might have knocked his toupee off, sorry man.  It was so nice out, hardly any cars or wind.  Lovin’ it!

P90X – Day 68

Posted by tscfitness on May 29, 2009

Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X…..For some reason, it is humid here in the Nevada desert today.  I was sweatin’ like mad.  This is just one of those days, I did the workout, but I can’t tell you much more than that.  Sorry to my readers, if I have any.  :)   I did 210 total pull-ups and 364 ab exercises.  I feel good about that and accomplished.

P90X – Days 65-67

Posted by tscfitness on May 28, 2009

Day 65 (Tuesday) Plyometrics, including bonus round…..Leg workout to the max!  This workout gets your heart rate through the roof and talk about sweat, Geez!  Okay, humor me here for a moment.  I’ve gotta brag about my legs AGAIN.  I’ve been bicycling for over 23 years, so I’m not hurtin’ in the legs department, but they’ve never been this defined.  They look so good, I thought I’d treat y’all with a little leg-visual.  :)

Legs Day 65

So, what do ya think?  The P90X workouts define every part of your body and leave you (and those who know you) in amazement.  If you are debating starting a P90X workout, don’t…..you won’t be disappointed.  You just have to commit the time (1 hour a day) and watch what you eat.  Okay, I lied, Yoga X is 1 1/2 hours, but it’s awesome!  I’m looking forward to it Day 67 (Thursday).

Day 66 (Wednesday) Back & Biceps and Ab Ripper X…..Did I mention BICEPS?  Talk about a MAJOR bicep workout, OMG ladies and gentlemen, you can’t even imagine, unless you’re doing it yourself.  This week I did 126 pull-ups, versus only 40 in week 5 (the 1st week of B&B).  I also did 366 ab exercises today.

Day 67 (Thursday) Yoga X…..Did I mention that I sweat my *ss off during Yoga?  Who would have thought that you could sweat during Yoga just as much, if not more, than during the weight workout?.  YX is NOT your mother’s Yoga class.  YX kicks me in the “X” every week!  I know, I know, a lot of you guys may be sayin’ (in a mocking voice) “Yoga’s for girls!  I’m not doin’ no Yoga”, but I challenge you to just try it and tell me what you think.

P90X – Day 64

Posted by tscfitness on May 25, 2009

Chest, Shoulders & Triceps and Ab Ripper X.  Oh man, ya just gotta love those one-arm and clap push-ups, NOT!  Today I converted from doing my clap push-ups on my knees to doing them on my toes!  I think next time I will also convert my one-arm push-ups.  166 total push-ups and 360 ab exercises!  I had an AWESOME PUMP after the workout and my arms were on fire!  I swear I could see my veins pulsating.  The only thing missing was The Hulk’s shreaded t-shirt.  :)   LOVE that P90X, BRING IT!

This morning I went on a nice bicycle ride.  It was early so it wasn’t hot yet and there were minimal cars.  As an added bonus, no wind.  What?  No wind in Vegas?  That’s right kids.  The tunes were tastey and the ridin’ was smooth.

P90X – Days 62 & 63

Posted by tscfitness on May 24, 2009

Day 62 (Saturday) Kenpo X…..Today was a rough one, only because my Mom was in town and I had a very full day.  By the time I had some time to myself, it was almost 11:00 PM.  So what did I do?  Well, as any truly dedicated P90Xer would do, I sucked it up and I Pushed Play.  I finished my workout (on WOWY) just before midnight and got my (all important) “x” on my workout calendar.  For those of you who don’t know, WOWY stands for Work Out With Me.  WOWY is Beachbody’s online gym, where you can workout with hundreds of people from across the county at the same time.  It is also a vehicle to receive (and offer) support and motivation.  If you’re interested in working out with me and joining the Beachbody community for FREE, simply click the tab above “Free Membership” or contact me if you have any questions.  Anyway, I did my spirit yells and me and Mr. Horton crushed KX together.  I felt pretty good about myself for gettin’ it done.

Day 63 (Sunday) X Stretch…..I spent an hour of my Rest Day doing XS.  Rest Day?  We don’t need no stinkin’ rest day.  :)   Again with the friggin’ 11:00 PM workout!  :(   Back to it tomorrow, see you then.

I rode my bicycle to church this morning.  I figured what better way to start your Sunday than with some exercise and religion?  My route was about 15 miles and took me less than an hour of riding time.  There are some delicious hills on the way home to test your legs and endurance.  Not a problem.  :)

P90X – Days 58-61

Posted by tscfitness on May 22, 2009

Day 58 (Tuesday) Plyometrics…..OMG I was sweatin’ my butt off today.  I also completed the bonus round, although my right-handed pitch is no thing of beauty.  Good thing you can do these workouts in the privacy of your own home.

Day 59 (Wednesday) Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X…..I was STILL sore from Monday’s workout, especially my chest.  I completed the bonus round.  I was pleased to do a total of 48 Chair Dips versus 28 in week 1.  I did a total of 112 Side Tri-Rises.  I did 100 total ST-Rs in week 1, my triceps have always been pretty strong.  I did 364 ab exercises during ARX.

Lana and I took the bicycles out this evening for a little errand.

Day 60 (Thursday) Yoga X…..While I was doing YX, my teenage son was doing Ab Ripper X in the other room.  I guess he wants to look as good as his Dad.  :)

This morning I rode my bicycle up to the Red Rock Scenic Loop and then, just because I love pain, I went ahead and crushed The Loop before I rode back down.  Lana rode up and met me after I did The Loop and we rode down together.  Although it was early in the morning, the Vegas tempuratures were already soaring.  Needless to say, I was very hot during the climbs, I ran out of water too.  The total distance I rode was 34.47 miles in 2 hours 34 minutes.  On the severely steep climbs of The Loop, I was going as slow as 5 MPH, but flew down the backside at 42 MPH.  It was a blast, but I was completely spent when I was done.  I couldn’t prepare my P90X recovery drink fast enough.  My quads were on fire from the climbs.

Day 61 (Friday) Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X…..Can you believe, still some soreness from Monday’s workout?  Anyway, I was stoked to be able to do 177 total pull-ups and 364 ARX exercises today.

P90X – Day 57

Posted by tscfitness on May 18, 2009

Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X.  Alrightythen, back to business!  The 2nd Recovery Week has passed and I’m glad to be hittin’ it hard again.  I haven’t done C&B since week 3, this is week 9.  I think it was a bit of a shock to my system because I struggled today.  I did everything and increased my numbers, but I was hurtin’.  Today I did a total of 83 pull-ups, 218 push-ups and 368 ab exercises.

P90X – Day 56 (Recovery Week Cont’d)

Posted by tscfitness on May 17, 2009

X Stretch today.  XS, or as I like to call it, mini Yoga X.  :)   Sorry folks, move along, nothing too see here, BUT XS is always a good (mellow) way to end your week of P90X.  I’m excited for week 9 to begin tomorrow, gettin’ back to the business of “bringin’ it”.  I’ll be taking my 60-day photo this coming week.  Stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel.

I went on a 17.42-mile bicycle ride on the dreaded Red Rock scenic loop.  I haven’t done the loop in over 10 years and I was amazed at how much stronger of a rider I am now.  In fact, I’d go even further and say that at age 44, I’m in the best shape of my life.  The 1st 6 miles or so of the loop are pretty much straight up.  Then on the backside you get the payoff of a steep downhill.  My climbing was strong and I used a harder gear than I used to.  On the downhill, I was screaming at 42 MPH.  It was a blast.  It was 102 degrees here today, so that part of it wasn’t so great.
